Matt Jacobs recently carried out the worlds first emiprical research using hypnosis to decondition cue reactivity in smokers.
A large body of research evidence shows that cue reactivity plays an important role in the development and maintenance of tobacco smoking. A review of this research identified a gap where clinical hypnosis had yet to be applied in attempting to decondition this cue reactivity.
A method was therefore designed that incorporated the use of hypnosis with an anchoring technique to decondition the cue reactivity to extinction. The technique was standardised as far as possible to allow for reproducibility.
Ethical clearance was granted by the University of West London. A qualitative research method was used to analyse the subsequent data retrieved from semi structured interviews taken 4 weeks post treatment with Thematic Analysis being employed to develop 5 strong themes. The locus of control of the participants was shown to have a strong influence on the outcome.
Matt has used the findings of the research to inform and hone his stop smoking with hypnotherapy technique enableing him to have a unique research driven approach. In hypnosis, deconditioning the cues associated with smoking leaves free to becoame a happy healthy non smoker with no desire to smoke.
The research was published in Ernest Rossi's peer reviewed journal in Freburary 2015, The Journal of Psychsocial Genomics which you can view by clicking here.

The Art of Hypnosis
Hypnosis and hypnothrapy is a science, yet also an art.
It's relatively easy to learn the science of hypnosis and to learn the basics of hypnotherapy. The art of hypnosis however is harder to aquire.
To observe the myriad of signals given off by a client's language, conscious and unconscious takes time to learn. To understand the body language of a client, their eye cues, their true goals, and to truly listen only comes with experience.
No amount of hours spent in a classroom learning the science of hypnosis can compete with experience.
Matt Jacobs at London Hypnosis not only holds a master of science degree in hypnotherapy but also understands the the art of hypnosis. He understands the uniqueness of you, the individulal.
Matt's approach to hypnotherapy is to start with a blank canvas with each client.
